At St Mary’s RC Primary we believe every child is special and unique. We recognise the importance
of educating the ‘whole’ child. Academic excellence for all children is one of our goals but we also
nurture those special gifts which make each child unique.

Every child deserves to receive a broad and balanced curriculum which will enable them to become engaged learners and responsible citizens.

At St Mary’s we offer our bespoke curriculum which we have tailored for our children.
We encourage children to take responsibility for the choices they make and to reflect on how their
choices make them and others feel. We believe that the primary years are a very important time for
each child to develop a love of learning.

We have a professional and dedicated team of teachers and support staff who are all committed and passionate to deliver the best education whilst supporting the children’s emotional and social well-being.

All staff have high expectations for behaviour and learning. We have a committed Local Governing Body that actively support the school. The parents of St Mary’s are always grateful for the support of all parents/carers to raise funds to enable all the children to benefit from extra curriculum activities throughout the year; these ensure that the curriculum offered to the children is enjoyable as well as challenging. We are fully supported by our Multi Academy Trust which further strengthens our ethos and facilitating the best environment for learning. We have our “Service Children’s” Co-ordinator who supports our service children, ensuring we take part in activities or visits specifically aimed for them.

We collaboratively work with home, school and our Parish valuing the contribution that all can make and support on the children’s journey. We work collaboratively with SFX to ensure fluidity between Primary and Secondary school, working alongside SFX as part of the same Multi Academy Trust. Together, we ensure that St Mary’s remains a very special place.

The well-being of children is vital, not only to their mental and emotional health but crucial for a child to learn and achieve academically, feel safe and secure in their surroundings so that learning can take place.
